Sediment Retention Device
CRAFS® is a sediment retention device (SRD) for use in critical spots with trouble conditions where silt fences fail. The corrugated filtration system provides rapid filtered seepage of the sediment runoff it collects within its multiple adjacent retention wedges. The corrugated structure provides three dimensional stability with its upstream and down stream support posts that can resist heavy concentrations of sediment runoff and the floating debris that often accompanies it.
CRAFS® units are recommended wherever heavy concentrations of sediment runoff are experienced or anticipated. That’s where retained runoff accumulates and can overflow, knock down, scour beneath and/or wash away a conventional sediment retention device (e.g., silt fence).
The corrugated structure of CRAFS® intercepts runoff, then divides, distributes, and retains it within a series of adjacent retention wedges. It literally spreads the retained runoff across the full width of its corrugated vertical filtration system. Each retention wedge provides more filter fabric surface area adjacent to retained runoff, and that’s what expedites the filtered seepage rate through the system.
